Truman State University GRADUATE ACCOUNTANCY TEACHING/RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIP The university offers a number of Graduate Teaching/Research Assistantship positions for qualified applicants. The assistantship includes a cash stipend of $2,500 and a fee waiver of up to nine credit hours per academic semester. All books, supplies, and special course fees are the responsibility of the student. The GTRA is contracted to work on a one-fourth time (quarter-time) basis. Accountancy assistantships are not renewable. The Award Process When all materials are complete, they will be immediately forwarded to the Program Director for the applicants graduate program, then to the head of the division in which the student's program is located. The Division Head will return the materials to the Graduate Office as either recommended or denied. The Dean of Graduate Studies will review recommended application materials and, if in agreement with the recommendation to award the assistantship, will forward the materials to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, who will take similar action and forward to the President of the University. The President will review the materials and, if in agreement, will return the materials to the Graduate Office which will then notify the student and issue the contract. Requirements 1.Minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.00; 2. Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) as determined by the program; 3. Three letters of recommendation; 4. Personal statement of goals and career plans; 5. Admission as a degree-seeking student. **Graduate Teaching/Research Assistants are required to carry a minimum of 9 hours of graduate courses during the fall semester and 6 hours of graduate courses during the spring semester, and to maintain a 3.00 graduate grade point average.
